Access to Higher Education
It’s never too late to get a degree! If you want to make a fresh start in education, especially if you have been unable to make the best of your opportunities to study, Access courses are an excellent option.
- Nationally recognised, non A Level route to University or Higher Education
- For mature returners to education, who have spent time in employment or bringing up a family
- Can be studied full-time or part-time (evening)
- Around 90% of students progress to University on completion
With no formal entry requirements, it doesn’t matter how long it is since you last studied. Your life experience will be valuable in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to prepare for a degree course at University.
Successful applicants will normally have substantial experience of life outside of formal education, gained since completing compulsory schooling.

Access to Social Sciences

“I studied the Access to Social Sciences course at Coleg Menai. The course covered a range of subjects such as Sociology, Psychology and Social Work and I enjoyed all of the subjects. My tutor was so lovely and friendly and was always very helpful. At first, I was slightly worried about starting the course as I hadn’t been in education for a while but this course is the best thing I’ve ever done! The tutor really helped me gain confidence and the support I received was fantastic. I’m now studying Health and Social Care with Sociology at Bangor University and am looking forward to all aspects of the degree! ”
