Introduction
Whether you are a young person aged 16-24 or are aged over 25, there are a wide range of options open to you which will allow you to build your knowledge and skills through work. These options will reflect both your own needs and aspirations and the needs of the employer for whom you work.
Earning & Learning
The beauty of work-based learning is that you can continue earning while you’re picking up valuable new knowledge and skills to give your careers prospects a big boost. Often the learning can take place in the workplace itself under the supervision of qualified instructors, but this is usually backed up by training off-site at Coleg Menai. Opportunities range from entry level qualifications to NVQ Level3.
Foundation Modern Apprenticeships
If you are aged 16 or over you could be eligible to join the FMA programme. This is a great way for you to get the skills you need for a successful career. The aim is that you will be employed and paid a wage or initially a training allowance, and receive quality training to industry standards. Depending on the course chosen, this training will be delivered on a day release basis at the college or totally within the workplace. The focus of the programme is to achieve an NVQ level 2 qualification, Technical Certificate and relevant Key Skills.
