Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships welcomes collaborative partnerships between Further Education Colleges and Organisations.

Since 1975, UK Universities have been working to provide knowledge and expertise to thriving organisations that wish to innovate, expandor improve their performance. Since April 2005, Further Education Colleges can also take part in these rewarding collaborations.

How does it work?

With the help of a specialist Knowledge Transfer Partnership Adviser, you will identify a college that has the right expertise for your organisation. Together you will then define and agree a project that will enable you to draw on their expertise and apply it to your organisation byplacing a College graduate inside your business, full time for up to three years, to drive forward the project in partnership with the chosen College.

The agreed project could be for any length of time between one and three years, with the overall aim of helping yourorganisation make a step change in an area that you have identified as high priority.

Organisations of all sizes inmost industries and commercial sectors, including not-for-profit organisations can take part. All approved Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are part - funded by the Government: Most attract a 60% rate of support (SMEs), while large companies benefit from a 40% rate of support.

This is your personal invitation to use the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme to innovate and compete in the global economy.

The aim of each Knowledge Transfer
Partnership is to:

- Enhance the business relevance of the Knowledge Base (i.e.College) Partner’s work by establishing long - term links with local business.

- Improve the competitiveness and profitabilityof the Company Partner by facilitating the completion of a key company project, which includes the spread of technical and/or business skills.

- Enhance the career prospects of a College graduate (The Associate) who has recently qualified at NVQ (Level 4) / HND / HNC or above e.g. Foundation degree, by placing them inside your company to work full time on a key project.

What is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership?

There is expertise in UK colleges that could be of value to your organisation in developing new products, services and processes. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are designed to help you access this expertise and bring it into your organisation.
