ESOL (English for speakers of other languages)
The ESOL Centre in Bangor offers a wide range of courses and qualifications for local students from North Wales and for international students from all over the world. As well as learning English you will study a range of other courses which will help you improve your opportunities.
The courses will help you progress into employment, into training or other college courses, and into Higher Education including University.
The courses are held in the ESOL Centre in a set of very well-equipped, comfortable rooms close to the college reception, the library and the canteen. All courses use computers to support learning and use the latest language learning technology. The ESOL Centre also has part-time courses in Bangor, Llangefni, Holyhead, Caernarfon and some workplaces.

English Language Programme
“I started studying an English Language Programme at Coleg Menai. It involved different subjects including speaking, reading, listening and writing. Being on the course gave me so much more confidence. I’m currently studying the Level 3 Certificate in Essential Skills Practitioners (ESOL) at the college and I’m really enjoying it! As part of the course I’m supporting an Entry Level 2 course within the ESOL department. It’s always been my dream to become a teacher and in the future I’d love to work within the ESOL department to be able to support others.
The tutors are so supportive, caring and are very sensitive towards the different cultures. I couldn’t have done any of my courses without their support and I’d like to thank all of the tutors and the programme area Manager for everything.
