Fundraising
Every year, our learners choose a Charity of the Year for the College. Throughout the year, all proceeds from fundraising events will be contributed to our chosen Charity. This year, our chosen charity is Cancer Research UK. Having lost three long serving members of staff to the illness, this charity is close to our hearts.
A range of fun activities were recently arranged for Cancer Research UK including a Christmas Fair, a Pamper Day, a Zumba event, Sponsored Walks and members of staff took part in the Relay for Life.
Another successful event was organised recently by our Independent Living Skills (ILS) learners. A very successful Duck Race was organised which involved 800 yellow plastic ducks racing along a stretch of Llangefni’s Cefni River which raised over a whopping £2,000 for Cancer Research UK.
The College always supports Children in Need and staff and learners arrange fundraising activities across our sites including the popular ‘Coleg Menai’s Got Talent’ which sees talent from staff and learners throughout the afternoon! Throughout the day the College raised over £1,100 for the worthy cause.
Staff and learners made a tremendous effort to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and took part in ‘Pink Week’. Everyone joined in the fun and arranged a lot of activities and wore pink and fancy dress costumes which raised a fantastic £966.00 for the charity.
