A student from Coleg Menai has been awarded an entrance scholarship to study Law at Aberystwyth University. Beca Llewelyn Roberts from Criccieth won the sought-after scholarship after sitting entrance examinations in two subjects of her choice – Law and Criminology.
The scholarship comprises an unconditional offer to study Law at Aberystwyth University, and entry to the course normally requires three A grades at A Level. Beca will also receive a £1,500 a year bursary, and guaranteed first choice of accommodation in the halls of residence for the duration of her course.
Beca - who has just completed her A Levels in Law, Psychology and Sociology at Coleg Menai – was delighted with her accomplishment: “I’m really looking forward to studying in Aberystwyth, and the icing on the cake is that I’ll not only receive financial help, but I won’t have to worry about my accommodation there either! I’m so pleased!”
Karen Griffith, A Level Manager at Coleg Menai said: “Beca hasn’t had the easiest of times recently, as she has health issues, so to overcome those difficulties and achieve something so significant … well, we’re absolutely thrilled for her!”
Coleg Menai offers a range of A Level qualifications. For more information, visit the website www.menai.ac.uk/courses or contact the course advice line on 01248 383333.
